Region: Rapaura, Wairua Plains, Marlborough, New Zealand.
Winemaking: In April 2020, this chardonnay was hand-picked then whole bunch pressed from our Roadside Block from Clones 15 and Mendoza. After settling the juice overnight, the juice was racked into a large oak cuvee tank, a concrete egg tank, and a variety French oak where an indigenous fermentation occured. Extended aging on lees in large format seasoned French Oak builds complexity and extends aging potential. Racked after 10 months and lightly filtered before being bottled in February 2021.
Tasting Notes: Aromas of golden stone fruit, baked lemon pie, vanilla custard, hazelnuts, and wet stone followed by a rich, round mouth feel and lingering acidity with hints of nectarine and apricot on the palate. A great food wine.
Technical: Alcohol - 13.5%. pH - 3.40g/l. TA - 6.2g/l. RS - Dry. Contains sulphites. BioGro certified organic and vegan friendly.
Winemakers: Allan McWilliams & Jordan Hogg.

"A nicely balanced wine both through the bouquet and on the palate. Aromas and flavours of sweet grapefruit and apple, there’s some white flowers and mineral stone qualities, and the oak statement is moderate and not overdone. Plenty of weight with a fine stain touch, contrasting acid line with both oak and mineral qualities in line with the power of the fruit. A well-made wine, tastes better on day two." - Cameron Douglas MS, 93/100 points
"Delicious now, this characterful wine was hand-harvested from mature vines and handled in a concrete, egg-shaped tank, an oak vat, and French oak barrels. Bright, light yellow/green, it is mouth filling and very genrous, with savoury, complex flavours, a slightly creamy texture, and excellent richness and harmony." - Michael Cooper, 5/5 stars
