Vintage 2023 Forecast
By Jordan Hogg, Winemaker
The first pick of harvest 2023 is already less than a week away. After a summer in Marlborough that seems to have never properly arrived, our first picks will be Pinot Blanc from our Corners and Orchard Vineyards for a few special projects. Our vineyard team has worked tirelessly in a year where average sunlight hours are down, and rainfall is up. The fruit is ripening well despite all of this, and we are looking forward to seeing the characteristics this vintage will deliver to our wines.
A mirror image season has happened down in Central Otago at our Trig Hill Vineyard. A very warm and dry year sets us up with fruit that has the potential to deliver great concentration and depth. This will bring our harvest between the two regions close together timing wise, so in the winery we are planning around this accordingly.
All in all, an exciting time and we can’t wait to begin!
