Description

Region: Rapaura, Wairua Plains, Marlborough, New Zealand.

Winemaking: The grapes were hand harvested and whole bunch pressed. The free run juice was lightly settled before racking to ferment into two stainless steel barrels with organically cultured yeast, and into a neutral seasoned oak barrel. This allowed a spontaneous ferment with indigenous yeasts. The wine was then aged on full ferment lees for 8 months prior to bottling.

Tasting Note: Delicate fresh, floral aromas, white peach and pear are dominant on the nose. Notes of herb, vanilla bean, and inklings of white pepper shine through onto a silky, plush palate with flavours of fresh pear and zest.

Technical: Contains sulphites.  BioGro certified organic.

Winemaker: Allan McWilliams.

Accolades:
NZ Organic Wine Awards 2020 - Silver Medal Winner

“Certified organic, the 2018 vintage was estate-grown at Rapaura and handled in stainless steel tanks (70 per cent) and seasoned oak barrels (30 per cent). A classy young wine, it is aromatic and medium-bodied, with intense, pure, citrusy, slightly spicy flavours, showing good complexity, and a dry (3.5 grams/litre residual sugar), persistent finish.” – Michael Cooper, 5/5 stars

“A gorgeous elegant style; the delicately fragrant bouquet shows apricot, grapefruit, apple and lemon peel characters with a subtle savoury nuance. The palate delivers excellent focus and drive, backed by firm acidity, finishing impressively long and mouth-watering. At its best: now to 2023. Certified organic.” – Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, 93/100 points
