Silver – NZ Organic Wine Awards 2020
“The highly distinctive 2018 vintage was fermented in a concrete egg, rather than oak barrels. Bright yellow/slight green, it is mouthfilling, crisp and concentrated, with fresh, lively, citrusy, peachy flavours, showing impressive intensity and complexity, and a dry, long finish. Best drinking 2021+. Certified organic.” – Michael Cooper
Tasting Note: This Chardonnay has an intriguing bouquet of honey, nougat & nectarine with unique and distinctive flavours of vanilla bean, lemon curd and a little crème brûlée on the palate.
Winemaking Notes: Mendoza Chardonnay was hand harvested , bunch sorted and then very gently whole bunched pressed .The free run juice was warm settled for 12 hours with no additions and the cloudy juice racked to a concrete egg for indigenous fermentation. The ferment was warm ( 25 degrees ) and the wine was left on full ferment lees for 8 months and underwent MLF during this aging. It was then racked off lees in March 2019 and bottled.
